LOS ANGELES — PornCrush editor/owner Austin King announced Tuesday the launch of “Close Ups,” a documentary-style series that seeks to humanize adult performers by chronicling their journey into the adult industry while also allowing viewers a peek into their lives off-camera.

Filmed by distinguished mainstream cinematographers, each episode will feature King conducting an in-depth interview with one of porn’s top female stars as they stroll through her neighborhood, dine at her favorite restaurant, chat in her living room, or visit a local attraction.

“This series will attempt to peel back the layers of the adult industry—not to expose, but to understand,” King said. “I want to humanize a group of people who walk paths most of us wouldn’t even have the courage to approach, people who see life through a lens most of us would never understand.”

The inaugural episode of “Close Ups” features Ava Amira, arguably the top new talent in porn in 2025.

During the 24-minute interview, Amira opens up about her childhood in war-torn Iraq, struggling to find her identity as a teenager, calling off an engagement, discovering porn, expanding her sexual horizons, her bisexuality, and more. The video ends with King and Amira dining at McDonald’s. In a roundabout way, Amira says working for the fast-food chain as a teenager helped shape her character.

“Few performers are hotter right now—both literally and figuratively—than Ava Amira,” King says. “Her story is both entertaining and inspirational, and I’m sure fans will enjoy getting to know her on a more personal level.”

King, who is seeking a title sponsor for “Close Ups,” said he expects to release at least two more episodes before the end of 2025.
