Report: Adult icon Jesse Jane faced financial strain at time of death

The Oklahoman has released new information from probate records detailing what remained of award-winning adult star Jesse Jane’s estate, offering a more grounded picture than the internet mythology that long surrounded her. Despite being repeatedly labeled online as “the highest-paid adult star in the world,” court filings show she had $42,609 in the bank at the time of her death in January 2024, with no real estate, no investments, and no substantial personal property listed. A judge ordered the remaining funds to be divided evenly between her son and her much older husband, who had been in the middle of divorce proceedings in Texas.

According to the reporting, Jane, 43, died of a fentanyl and cocaine overdose alongside her boyfriend in his Oklahoma home. Her son was initially appointed to oversee the estate until her husband, Richard Wilcox Jr., asserted his legal marital status using a 2019 declaration they had filed after a ceremony in Santorini. A hearing to determine control of the estate was scheduled for late 2024, but the two reached an agreement beforehand, and Wilcox became the administrator.

Public records cited in the article show Jane had sold a house for $435,000 in 2021, though those proceeds were no longer present by the time of her death. She had also been issued multiple state and federal tax liens, including one for $200,755. Her husband sold her car for about $25,000 and split the proceeds with her son. One possible future source of income for her heirs is an existing licensing agreement with XR Brands, which manufactures Jesse Jane–branded products.

The story includes a candid reminder from probate attorney J. David Terrell about online “net worth” sites that had claimed she was worth half a million dollars: “You can’t trust the internet.”
